A critical analysis of the genealogies of Jesus (Matt.1. 1:1-17 and Luke 3: 23-38)
Main Article Content
Abstract
Throughout the ages, Jesus' genealogies (Matt. 1: 1-17 and Luke 3: 23-38) have been interpreted especially through Mary's harmonization and inclusion theses. However, those theses have a conjectural and artificial basis that creates unconvincing and unacceptable complications for critical study. This article reviews those theses, pointing out their mistakes and incongruities. The author then undertakes a thorough analysis of genealogies. The result of the analysis is the revelation of new details and observations that lead to more logical, appropriate and enlightening solutions.
