The Domestic Church in times of social isolation

Abstract

The new coronavirus pandemic has brought us a new reality and transformed people's habits. This article aims to analyze the condition of families in their homes, assuming the status of authentic house churches, living in communion, like the first Christian communities. In this way, the function of family will be analysed into the pandemic reality, the condition of the house, as a place of worship and the domestic church and its relationship with the home. In addition to spirituality amongst the advances in technology and digital media, it will be also observed the relationship of the faithful with the Eucharist since, with closed temples, many Christians have acted in an extreme and in a mistaken way inconsequentially asking for the return of presential celebrations. Thus, it will be analyzed that the Eucharist should not be treated as an amulet, but as a sacrament of unity, donation and service to brothers and sisters.
